Mini cooper convertible R52, full service history, one family owned. No ULEZ

  

This is my Mini Cooper Convertible. My daughter bought it new in 2007 and then it passed to me last year, so it is one family owned. It has full service history, having been fastidiously maintained by Mini in its early days then specialists from then on, including my own workshop which I ran until I retired. The car passed its MOT last month, needing only a new driveshaft and rear anti-roll bar bushes.

It was serviced at the same time so it is all good and ready to go. Yes, the mileage is high but it has an excellent maintenance record - see the photos of the 14 stamps in the service book. Everything works, including the air conditioning which blows nice and cold. The interior is lovely and clean and in very good condition with no tears or excessive wear, having had a neat repair to the driver seat and also to the rear seat squab where a cigarette thrown in by a passing builder!! The leather has been regularly treated to keep it supple and looking nice (see photos). The bodywork is very straight, sound and original except where the rear bumper has been scraped on the nearside and the lacquer has peeled off (see photo).

There are some stone chips on the bonnet which have been touched-in. The car drives extremely well, the manual gearbox is smooth, the brakes and steering all good and the engine runs sweetly, having benefitted from regular oil and coolant changes at the correct intervals. The wheels were refurbished last year so are in good shape and the tyres are all good with decent tread.

In the last 4 years it has had a new clutch and a new exhaust last year. This is a very straight, very clean and sound car that drives nicely and everything works. Comes with its own weather proof cover too. The car does have one fault which has been there for some time which is that intermittently the handbrake light, tyre pressure light and ABS light flicker and sometimes stay on and at the same time the speedo flickers. When the ignition is turned off and back on the flickering goes away.

Also the engine management light stays on but does reset, then comes on randomly some time later. The running of the car is in no way affected and I have been advised it may well be a loose connection/ dry joint in the back of the dash. There is one key which needs a new battery. Overall a good, well maintained car ready for someone to enjoy.
