We use High Quality NSK bearings as originally used selected to OE spec for OE temperature and speed requirements. Vehicle: BMW Mini Cooper S Works 1.6 Ltr.
Years: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. 1 x NSK PTO Shaft Bearing - 1 x OE INA Needle Roller PTO Shaft Bearing - 1 x High Temp Viton Case-to-PTO seal - 1 x High Temp Viton PTO-to-Waterpump seal - 185ml of supercharger oil in a reusable 200ml plastic bottle. If you are looking at this rebuild kit then you are probably aware of the failures surrounding the PTO (Power Take Off) on the BMW Mini superchargers. In most cases this is caused by a leak in the case seal allowing the oil to slowly escape, eventually running dry and causing bearing and gear wear.
Sometimes this is a just a seal failure which our kit can fix and sometimes it is caused by excessive play in the supercharger case bearings putting extra load on the seal. This kit includes what is needed to service or repair issues with the PTO. However if the problem has not been caught in time unfortunately you may have a set of damaged PTO gears in addition. This kit does not include a replacement PTO shaft as in most cases this can be recovered. If the shaft is damaged noteably on the needle bearing face or excessive grooving from a dry running seal we can provide a replacement.

Most motor manufacturers overlook the strain placed on oil by high rotational speeds of superchargers and treat the oil as being filled for life - this is not good practice! Often, by 40 or 50,000 miles and certainly at higher mileages, the oil can come out like old gravy. Of course, that's usually long past the time that warranties have run out - but by this time the vehicle makers are unconcerned.
To preserve supercharger life, the oil needs changing and we recommend this is done by no later than 40,000 miles. If you not have the workshop tools required or simply do not wish to undertake the task yourself Powerhouse also offer rebuild services for snouts to whole superchargers.
